Ed is the dominant character beacause he already knows what is going on. He knows because he does to many things pointing out that hes aware of the whole situation. When he meets the doctor at the end, its quite apparent that hes seen him before meaning he knows that hes crazy. He also sings a song that gives reference to the fact that he sees people that arent there the next. He knows exactly where to go looking for the body of the actress even though no one else knew she was missing and also he takes the lead in the investigations while there is an active duty cop with them. He knew he was the one that had to stop the murderer beacause he was the bravest and most sincere one there. He shows that by of course taking the lead, by hunting down the suspect, by going out into dark alleys by himself and by sacrificing himself to keep Paris alive and making sure the killer dies.

Whats Ed’s true identity?
The scene i watched starts off with John Cusack who plays Ed is stiching up the neck wound of this lady he ran over in the street. When he’s done he is asked by the women’s husband, Georges, where’d you learn to do that?” (Identity) Ed replies “four years pre-med school” (Identity). Meaning that he was studying to be a doctor then dropped out. Then later on in the scene, the actress that Ed was driving turns up dead. When they go for the convict that Ray Liotta, Rhodes, was transporting he is no longer there. So now the blame is put on him obviously. Everyone is now freaking out because their is a killer on the loose. Ed then steps up by telling everyone to stay in this one room while he and the cop go look for the murderer. But the cop gets defensive and is trying to figure out who put him in charge. We then find out that Ed is an ex cop so he knows what he is doing.
I find it odd that Ed happens to be an ex pre-med student and an ex cop and just happens to be in this situation with them where he can be of help to everyone. I think he is lying about one of them and maybe he did something wrong in the past and is trying to redeem himself by saving the day. I think this whole movie is about Ed trying to save himself somehow. Or maybe it could be that since he has the experience that he does, he just feels like he needs to be the savior because hes the only one that can. Another possibility could be that he knows that he isnt real and that no one else is and he wants to be the surviving character so he is trying to stay ahead so he can know whats going on. And in that case he just has real selfish reasons for being so helpful.

Why are some people so bossy?
I was watching this movie called Identity this weekend and I thought it would be perfect to write my paper on since it’s such an interesting movie. It has you guessing the whole time and there’s a twist at the end that leaves you in shock. The movie is about these 10 people that get stranded in the middle of nowhere at a motel. And one by one they start getting killed off. In a different location this guy with schizophrenia is undergoing some kind of treatment. Throughout the movie John Cusack, who is one of the people stranded, tries to figure out who is committing the murders and he tries to keep everyone that is still alive safe. Sorry to ruin the ending but in the end we find out that the whole movie is being played in this crazy guys head and all the people that were stranded at the motel were actually his multiple personalities being put in a face off so there could only be one left.
What really got to me in the movie and I was trying to figure out was why John Cusack was the dominant personality. I thought that it was because maybe he had some unresolved issues with his past and he was trying to make up for whatever mistake he made now. I figured this because in one scene Amanda Peet, who plays the role of a prostitute, tells John that he isn’t a cop anymore so what is he trying to prove.
I have to finish watching the movie to figure out what John true reasons are though. So I’ll let you know when I find out.

Reality or Fantasy???
When i first started watching Raising Arizona i thought it would be a normal comical type movie. But as i watched it i found it hard to follow and believe because theyre was just so much going on. Later on in the movie when i put the pieces together, i realized that HI was dreaming it all. The sequence of events are just unrealistic and i dont see any of it happening in reality. There are many indications that lead me to believe this.
For example, the fellons coming out of the mudd miles away from the prison. How could they survive underground for so long? And the bounty hunter, Leonard Smalls, it seems like fire is everywhere he passes and he’s just roaming around town with a whole bunch of weapons with no one noticing him. And also at the Arizona home, how is it that it took so long for the wife to go check on the babies? in reality a mother who just gave birth, specially to five little ones, would be smothering her newborns and watching their every move. Another reason i believe that HI is dreaming it all is because it seems as though all the characters have similar traits to him and there are alot of deja vu scenes like HI being under the crib and under the car. Also i believe that its impossible that he always got caught for stealing and all of a sudden when hes getting the diapers he’s dodging bullets and running through the town and doesn’t get caught.
I think he starts his dream when he falls asleep in the cell and also at the end he says hes dreaming. So i think its a dream and the cohen brothers definately tricked me by not using the normal RDE effect.

Raising Arizona
I found Raising Arizona to be an okay movie, i wouldnt have watched it on my own. But anyway, i chose as my focusing question “This movie is rated PG-13. Would you assign it a different rating? Why?”
I feel that this movies shouldnt be rated Pg-13. It had too much cursing and foul language, and too much violence for a young audience. The robbing of the store and bank, for example the store clerk and the cops chasing after H.I. and shooting him throughout the town and even in the supermarket in front of all those people, i thought wasnt suitable because i dont think younger children should be watching that since they are at a vulnerable stage and they can be influenced easily. When H.I. was fighting with his friend and they destroyed the house and when he fought his boss wasnt appropriate because you’re suppose to have a certain level of respect for your superiors. There was just too much fighting. The bounty hunter being blown up i think was just too graphic because his body parts were shown laid out in the road. There was also a scene where a playboy magazine was shown, and H.I. was trying to hide it, which i think is very inapppropriate for young people to be seeing. There was alot of cursing for example when H.I. robbed the store, Ed called him an SOB several times.
I would rate this movie R because its content is only suitable for a more mature age group.
